Thank you so much for a wonderful post and in particular this statement “Choose one idea, and do it better than everyone else”. For ages I have been looking at ways to diversify, usually resulting in coming up with an idea for a new website, but there had always been a nagging doubt in my mind that launching numerous websites would stretch me too much. That statement has helped to set my mind on making my website the best that it can be, rather than having a few mediocre sites.

Wow, thanks for the in-depth answer to my question! So to sum it up, pick an idea about which you have enough knowledge to make you one of the best in the business, and that you are passionate enough about to give you focused energy for years to come.

looking forward to hearing about Inspiring Innovators!

Hi Erica,

Even though your post was about finding the right business for you I must say it was very inspirational.

Its my first time on your site and actually found it by accident but you are now bookmarked.

Cheers

Again, a great topic Erica.

I just *love* using the "passionate disgust" concept. It is great!

As I noted in a comment in another of your postings,
http://www.erica.biz/2009/what-is-not-working-for-you/
I was in a quandary trying to determine what I was passionate about.

But oddly as it may sound, 'what am I disgusted about' is a much more approachable attitude than 'what am I passionate about'.

For example, isn't anger a very motivating emotion? (Meaning, anger is a emotion that often motivates people to do things.)

'Disgusted at the state of industry X', and 'being angry what how bad some companies get away in industry X' are pretty close, and probably just as useful.

I'm getting motivated just thinking about it!

Hi Erica,

I like your "passionate disgust" reference. So true :)

Follow your passion so whatever you are doing is in your blood. This makes is much easier to persist through the inevitable trials and tribulations.

Thanks for sharing your entrepreneurial insight.
