I found your blog by stumbling upon your Twitter profile through ramit, and exploring it to find the ebook he thanked you for. I'm really glad I came across your site. Without being aware of this post, I actually tried to do a 30 day fast from complaining two months ago (hard stuff!). Keep up the good work.

Here is how I would have thought about that, Erica.

You didn't spend two days cleaning and doing something with no worth.

You spent two days cleaning and organising a huge pile of items that will eventually better the life of somebody else when you donate them. You did your monthly, feel-good, help a person task. You didn't waste your two days cleaning. You dedicated your time to helping somebody.

It's a different way of thinking from your way, but ultimately they do the same thing. They turn something that appears to be negative in to what it truly is... a positive.

It's interesting to see how people think about things. One mans task to grumble about is another mans task to learn and grow.

To answer your question, I haven't quite gone through a no complaining exercise yet, but I did go through a "no excuses" exercise. Not too long ago I realised I would find an excuse for everything I didn't want to do. I spent a week without any excuses and before I knew it I was getting lost in invoices and payments. :)
