No. (Surprise!)

I went to the doctor today. I do not have mono. Or, rather, I did not test positively for mono. That doesn’t completely rule out mono, but it makes it unlikely that I have it.

So what do I have? Well, the doctor isn’t sure. He says I might have a complication of a regular viral infection. If that’s the case, what I had last week (fever, chills, coughing, blah blah) was the result of a viral flu or flu-like infection and I’m just not 100% recovered. (It can take up to 2 weeks to recover from a flu; I’m at about 10 days.) On the other hand, I could have something as bad as lymphoma cancer (he said I do have some of the early warning signs of lymphoma cancer, and if I start sweating at night, I should immediately come back in for a cancer screening.) Most likely, though, it’s some sort of virus that just hasn’t run its course in me yet.

If I don’t get better in 7 days, I need to make a followup appointment and have more blood drawn. So I guess it’s wait-and-see time.

or time for mexican ;) as apparently capsacin has a harmful effect on cancer cells, reducing growth by up to 80% (in certain types of cancer) of course they were giving the rats pretty massive doses, equivalent to eating several habaneros or using pepper spray to spice up your food.

I wonder what the possiblities are that it could be bird flu? i mean so far bird flu hasn’t hit the states, but if it was going to hit california would be one of the more likely states to get hit first. maybe if you’d been in contact with a lot of people who’d been to asia recently… but otherwise I’d guess the chance is slim.
