I did the same getting off the sugar; especially the soda. Dump the artificial sweeteners; cereal and processed bread too. I added fish oil pills and the veil of fog was lifted. I slept through the first twenty years of my life. No longer now.

I liked your blog, and I am realizing just how many hidden sugars are in food.

I had a horrible eatting day, and swiped a doughnut, I almost passed out, and got pretty sick only after 30 mins to an hour later... I am not going to live this up and down anymore.

I like that you gave me some inspiration and resources on resitrictive diets... I lost 60 pounds pre baby, but now I'm up again, looked on google for help with crashing, found your page.

Loved it,
Elisa

Hi! Just found this post. I went on an elimination diet over the summer in which you also cut sugar (along with wheat, corn, soy, dairy, eggs, and peanuts) temporarily, and eventually slowly add them back in.

Everything was great except that I'd get these terrible headaches every day. A few days in they stopped and I no longer had any cravings. I'm convinced it was the sugar. So I know how you feel!

I wish I could completely eliminate sugar from my diet, but I just don't think it will work for me, even though I eat very healthy and no longer buy foods with HFCS or unnecessary, added sugars.

I have long believed I have a hypoglycemic condition. Recently I have been cutting out the corn syrup from my diet too -- as you suggest, it is incredibly difficult. This "sin" is in almost every mass produced food now. I've been cooking even more often and buying the expensive organic stuff at Trader Joes. I have found a good portion of their products do not substitute HFCS for sugar. But, I am still not able to eat many of my favourite foods. My mouth and body are constantly craving the fix though - right now my mouth is literally salivating for some cookies or donuts or -something- sweet and full of sugar. I know I'm not hungry and the craving is a pure mental response, but that doesn't make it easier to ignore. God I hate carrot sticks and/or other "fresh" vegetables. I want something big, bad, unhealthy, and loaded with fat/sugar caloric goodness!

Completely off topic. Your email about updates never has the subject in the email... it just looks like this:
SlashChick.com has a new blog titled ""

If you get time, can you fix it?

On topic, my wife is a type-1 diabetic... thats hypo AND hyper glycemic. Her blood sugar levels never affect her emotional state at all. If she's low, she does get the shakes (and I've seen it REALLY low... like in the teens). When its high, she just gets a touch lethargic... but nothing to the level of depression...
