Me

I’ve started my new blog at SlashChick.com. I’d actually had this domain registered for going on two months (ever since a friend bugged me to get away from the “ghetto” Slashdot journal system), but I hadn’t done anything with it until today. I felt I needed to get into a blog system where I had control. I’ll probably end up importing most of my old Slashdot entries to here.

I’m currently trying out Wordpress as my blog system. Does anyone have any feedback on that? I’ve never actually used anything (except LiveJournal) before, so I’m not completely familiar with what’s out there. Comments are welcome (since now I have the comment system completely under my control.)

I’ll continue to play around with Wordpress. Right now it seems like it will do most of what I want it to do; I downloaded a “theme” for it, and although it’s better than the default, I still want to do my own theme. Watch for that eventually.

I’m headed to church now. I’ve actually wanted to go to this church (Novus Spiritus) for a while, but I just never went. C and I were talking about this last week and it was that conversation that spurred me to go today. Plus, I need to start healing, and this is as good a place as any.

:)

Welcome. But the church link goes to a Web page advertising a woman who calls herself a “psychic and spiritual teacher.” Is that right? If that’s what you had in mind that’s fine and all, but it seemed kind of unusual so I thought it might be best to ask.

  2. SlashChick Says:

Yep. She’s the one who founded the church. I know our society has a stigma against “psychics”, so I consider the “spiritual teacher” part more accurate. She’s written many books, which are interesting if studying spirituality is your thing.

As for WordPress, I think you made a good choice. Though I haven’t used it myself (I’m still in the dark ages and doing all updates by hand), I’ve set up many friends with it after they got sick of Moveable Type. They claim to be very happy with it, though they are definitely not the type to play around with any kind customization. I think you’ll be able to customize it to your liking without much of a problem ^_^

Well, it looks like you’re getting your first dose of blog spam. It’s a true joy.

I linked to your site so hopefully people will notice your “transition”.

WordPress is great… email me if you have any specific issues, I ended up doing some customization of wordpress for things it wouldn’t handle nicely (up on moocow, no less) I’m a little one of your many customers, although I just cancelled my personal site, I did leave my first business account there, and I’ll be bringing any other customers I can to the table.
