Though I haven't used it myself (I'm still in the dark ages and doing all updates by hand), I've set up many friends with it after they got sick of Moveable Type. They claim to be very happy with it, though they are definitely not the type to play around with any kind customization. I think you'll be able to customize it to your liking without much of a problem ^_^ As for WordPress, I think you made a good choice. I know our society has a stigma against "psychics", so I consider the "spiritual teacher" part more accurate. She's written many books, which are interesting if studying spirituality is your thing.
